2 april 2005: Memento diem

O Heilige Drievuldigheid,
Wij danken U
omdat U paus Joannes Paulus II aan de Kerk hebt gegeven
en omdat U in hem de tederheid van Uw vaderschap hebt getoond,
de glorie van Christus’ kruis
en de schittering van de Geest van liefde.
Door zijn totale overgave
aan Uw oneindige barmhartigheid
en de moederlijke tussenkomst van Maria,
heeft hij ons een levend beeld gegeven van Jezus, de Goede Herder,
en heeft hij ons de heiligheid aangeduid
als hoogste maatstaf van het gewone christelijk leven,
de weg om de eeuwige eenheid met U te bereiken.
Verleen ons, op zijn voorspraak, volgens Uw wil,
de genade die wij afsmeken,
in de hoop dat hij snel tot de eer van de altaren mag verheven worden.
Amen.

Heilige Vader prijst opnieuw de pre-conciliaire liturgie

Wij berichtten reeds eerder over de openlijke lofbetuigingen vanwege de Heilige Vader voor de pre-conciliaire liturgie.
Vandaag opnieuw tijdens de preek van Palmzondag:
"Il salmo 24 [23] che parla della salita termina con una liturgia d’ingresso davanti al portale del tempio: "Sollevate, porte i vostri frontali, alzatevi, porte antiche, ed entri il re della gloria". Nella vecchia liturgia della Domenica delle Palme il sacerdote, giunto davanti alla chiesa, bussava fortemente con l’asta della croce della processione al portone ancora chiuso, che in seguito a questo bussare si apriva. Era una bella immagine per il mistero dello stesso Gesù Cristo che, con il legno della sua croce, con la forza del suo amore che si dona, ha bussato dal lato del mondo alla porta di Dio; dal lato di un mondo che non riusciva a trovare accesso presso Dio. Con la croce Gesù ha spalancato la porta di Dio, la porta tra Dio e gli uomini. Ora essa è aperta. Ma anche dall’altro lato il Signore bussa con la sua croce: bussa alle porte del mondo, alle porte dei nostri cuori, che così spesso e in così gran numero sono chiuse per Dio. E ci parla più o meno così: se le prove che Dio nella creazione ti dà della sua esistenza non riescono ad aprirti per Lui; se la parola della Scrittura e il messaggio della Chiesa ti lasciano indifferente – allora guarda a me, tuo Signore e tuo Dio."

Kardinaal Biffi preekt tot de paus over de anti-christ

De weblog Rorate Caeli heeft een interessant rapport over de vastenretraite voor paus Benedictus, gegeven door kardinaal Giacomo Biffi. Zo kwam ondermeer, aan de hand van Solovjev, het thema van de antichrist aan bod.

"Cardinal Biffi picked up on his oft repeated theme of the Antichrist, basing his remarks on the works of Vladimir Soloviev, a Russian theologian who has received praise from Pope Benedict prior to his elevation to the pontificate.Quoting Soloviev, the Cardinal said "the Antichrist presents himself as pacifist, ecologist and ecumenist." "He will convoke an ecumenical council and will seek the consensus of all the Christian confessions, granting something to each one. RORATE CAELI heeft een vertaling van een interview met kardinaal Castrillon Hoyos. Hij zegt ondermeer dit:



"The new liturgy has not been "the solution". Were our churches fuller or emptier before? They have been emptied! It is true that not only due to this, but the Mass becomes one among several other rites of the world, and to strike what is sacred is a grave matter. The meaning of "Sacrifice" was forgotten.
